Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

I work with ceramics, multimedia sculpture, painting, and digital media to explore intersections like identity, womanhood, and migration. Having grown up in China and later relocating to New York, my practice reflects the psychological and material complexities of navigating between cultures, which led to deep reflections on identity, displacement, and belonging. This journey informs a process of reconstructing power dynamics to confront interwoven themes of resilience and transformation.I pay close attention to my surroundings—what lingers in the subconscious often returns through making. I deconstruct and reconfigure bodily forms, cultural symbols, and natural motifs, often drawing from architecture, Chinese furniture, calligraphy, and fashion. Through this, I create conceptual portals that bridge the invisible forces shaping internal and external realities—emotions, memories, and cultural histories.
