Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
My work (Places for Things) considers our relationship to the material world and a love for things. We curate the contents of our environments and create personal archives of memory and meaning through accumulation, attachment, and care. This body of work centers the processes of attention and care that might be used to signify meaning—using the language of museums, archives, organization—rather than the narratives of the objects featured. My work aims to explore the idea of the “specific object” both as tactile experiences, taking up space, and sentimental records of personal history. I propose we engage with objects through painting, using time, attention, and meditative action to cherish. Additionally, it outlines objective documentation—recording visible traces of time on surfaces—as an important intermediary to the preservation of an object and the survival of symbolic meaning. Lastly, my practice heavily incorporates the creation of specific places for these specific objects, especially those that are useless, discarded, waste, belonging nowhere; caring by creating places of belonging.
