Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Shiva Addanki is a painter and print artist working in the realist tradition. His work is about planetary crisis and its social existence, focusing on the lives of global majorities in the jaws of exploitation. His paintings and self-published artist's books are rooted in practices of critical social research and montage, working from the over-saturation of the digital image economy to evoke confrontations with the reproduction of global inequality. This is work that emerges from a primary concern with the fate and living conditions of the world's majorities, focusing on the colonial shadows of contemporary life.
