Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Anna Child’s paintings unfold through the cutting and layering of substrates, constructing surfaces that hold tension, fragility, and resilience. Embracing uncertainty as method, she finds beauty in friction—between movement and stillness, control and collapse. Her compositions, marked by visible seams and rich materiality, invite tactile intimacy and quiet intensity. Joy emerges not from resolution, but from excess, imbalance, and the provisional. Her practice is a sustained inquiry into transformation—an exploration of what it means to remain in a state of becoming.
