Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I create wooden sculptures inspired by abstract painting. My process begins with collage: I paint panels, cut them into various shapes, and reassemble them into evolving, three-dimensional forms. It’s a way of giving discarded scraps new life and flat paintings an animated existence. I find a similar beauty in the materials I work with—sourcing wood from the street or collecting leftovers from woodshops.
I’m largely influenced by the Abstract Expressionist movement, especially its emphasis on color. Louise Nevelson, a major inspiration, brought the feeling of painting into sculptural objects—her works often read like shadows frozen in motion. Similarly, my forms sometimes take on qualities of machines, robots, or architecture—turning flat surfaces into something unexpectedly alive. The Bauhaus philosophy of uniting art, craft, and function also resonates with me. I reference Alma Siedhoff-Buscher’s colorful wooden toys and architectural designs—works that use vibrant color and simple form to create a sense of engagement and play with purpose.
Dance and performance are integral to my process. Improvisation evolves into structure, creating a tension between fluidity and stability. In dance, I explored dreamlike landscapes and often treated inanimate objects as collaborators. Much like Martha Graham’s Cave of the Heart (1946), where choreography and Noguchi’s set design create an emotionally charged space, I see my sculptures as expressive counterparts—morphing in and out of roles and ideas.
Alongside my main practice, I run Art Show Projects, a rotating apartment and backyard gallery I founded in 2020. I also make custom shelves for artists, stitch old stuffed animals into hybrid creatures, and craft presidential bobbleheads from expired lightbulbs—each project driven by the same spirit of transformation and play.
