Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Rachel's wood assemblages begin with an implusiveness that she directs towards a scored improvisation. The improvisations pull inspiration from scenes of films like, Willy Wonka, Young Frankenstein, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, sayings like "It is what it is", the painting method from the art movment "Fauvism", and architectrual imagery found in buildings, technology, and nature. She uses found materials that already have a character, and allows that to inspire her specific cuts with a jigsaw and painterly stokes. Found object art and various painterly methods are concepts she intentionally juxtaposes to make something animated. Like a personifcation of a building, or the impression of a shape.
