Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Throughout her experimental practice, artist Ana Gzirishvili has made use of mediums ranging from film and lens-based media to CGI, from drawing and painting to poetry, reading performances, installations, and sculptures. Her projects often examine the in-between spaces and points of touching of objects, spaces, and narratives by disassembling and reassembling them both physically and contextually. Interest in in-between spaces in Ana’s practice comes from working with the language and translation, from thinking about a threshold between material-immaterial realms, as well as from a center-periphery discourse. Ana has created several CGI characters ( such as Bay, and Diva Debut) that appear and reappear in various works of hers as digital images, videos, texts, voices, or as manifestations of a certain concept. In her current art practice, Ana is interested in object-oriented thought. In Ana Gzirishvili's recent solo exhibition Snaps the artist worked with second-hand handbags found or bought in Tbilisi.
