Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My practice explores methods of reframing visual cultures of violence at the intersection of war, industrialization and popular culture. Utilizing sculpture, assemblage and video, I choreograph spaces that constellate complex histories with science-fiction propositions to interrogate the rhetorics of waste and fear that inhabit common media we live with. Archival images are distorted by tarnished industrial finishes. Sculptural surfaces become an index of worlds forgotten. 3D animations depict ambient beings inhabiting military landscapes. By staging these meditations, I propose ways viewers can recognize precarious frameworks of life in a world of uncertainty and potential futures that can blossom from the ruins.
