Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
What place does art have in a future with great social and environmental uncertainty? My practice is a multidisciplinary investigation of this question from the perspective of both an artist working in the tradition of painting and a young father moving toward that future. I choose to work across many different disciplines to revel in the challenges of starting from nothing.
My work begins from a notion of painting as surface, mark, and consequence, and expands outward to sculpture, printmaking, and installation. Language and its attendant graphic forms are my primary influence, informed by my background as a designer. In particular, I’m interested in how the interaction of letters and words with the material they appear on can produce varied meanings for different viewers.
My choice to make artwork has always come down to the simple, conscious decision to make something with my hands. Present in all my work is a commitment to human-driven, labor-intensive methods of production. By foregrounding this as an artistic device, I hope to bring to mind the hidden presence behind the production of anything, proving that the place of art in an uncertain future is also the place of humans.
