Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Assimilation is a big word with layered meanings that span generations. I am interested in exploring what we exchange to become part of the broader culture. I am interested in finding out what culture means when I look back through family history and forward into the customs I transmit to my children. I use intuitive expressions and the symbols of my own cultural inheritance to create pictures of my own cultural identity. I am an American citizen, a citizen of the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Southeast Alaska, with Mexican, Kaigani Haida, and Anglo heritage.
