Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I use photography and comedy to highlight the absurdities of consumerism and unravel unrealistic beauty standards. One can be punished for being too attractive and punished for not being attractive enough–a fluctuating, unrealistic scale that is impossible to tip. My mother was a beautician, often having hair and nail clients in our home. This proximity allowed me to see both the benefits and negative effects of manicuring one’s image in a society where people too often connect their value to their physical appearance.
With no preferred camera, the formats of my photographs vary but are unified by the often low contrast, small scale, and low resolution aesthetic–all of which force viewers to come in close, scrutinizing the image. The end result is a body of work that is obscured yet obvious, humorous yet miserable, capturing the feeling of disappointment.
In addition to photography, my film and performance work looks at similar themes of commerce and beauty but with a more lighthearted approach, where storytelling is used as a coping mechanism.
