Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My practice is focused on public art. I create site and environment-responsive sculptures and installations which are often activated by multidisciplinary performances.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional architecture, folklore and spirituality of my native Paless’e culture on the Belarus-Ukraine border and world’s remote indigenous communities where I studied, my works explore the creative potential of public art to bring cultures and people together in attempt to make a tangible impact on daily life in specific community.

I create larger scale outdoor architectural-sculptural installations, indoor sculptures and ‘install-actions,’ where an installation is created live at a public site by employing a series of performative actions and non-traditional sculpting materials.

Thematically, my works focus on unity and interdependence of human experience placed in the context of contemporary volatile socio-ecological conditions.

The works further experiment with conceiving of the new modes for community living, governing and harmonious human interrelations to serve as creative catalysts for regeneration of urban and natural environments and equitable social relations.
