Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

To apply to the Registry, click here. Join our mailing list here to receive our open call announcement and other programming updates. For any further questions about the Registry, please contact us at registry@whitecolumns.org.

RESUME

Bio

Sunnie Liu is a queer Chinese American interdisciplinary artist creating diasporic biomythography, critical fabulation, and liberation evangelism. Sunnie mobilizes installation, video, sculpture, performance, social practice, new media, writing, curation, and collaboration as interfaces for reclaiming power, place, and history for disempowered communities. Sunnie's practice is informed by lived experiences growing up as an immigrant, child of Chinatown workers, and queer congregant in the Southern Baptist Church.

Sunnie is half of artist collective Parallax with Malaika Temba and co-edits Divine zine. Rooting practice in community, Sunnie organizes not only locally, but also digitally as a co-founder of Xīn Shēng | 心声 Project. Sunnie holds degrees in Studio Art and History from Yale University. Sunnie's work has been featured by the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Asian American Arts Alliance, Think!Chinatown, Ely Center for Contemporary Art, POV on PBS, Yale Norfolk School of Art, Foundation House, Bandung Residency, Chautauqua Institution, and NYU Press.
