Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

RESUME
Jil Crary-Ross (b. California, 1989) is a painter based in New York City. Through figurative abstraction and material study, her practice engages with contemporary folklore. A self-taught artist, she received a BA in City Planning and Conflict Studies from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2013. Research across disciplines continues to inform her work. In addition to painting, Crary-Ross publishes zines and artist books, and creates three-dimensional 'object-paintings' using paper pulp and concrete, extending her interest in image-making into a variety of tactile forms.
Crary-Ross has exhibited work throughout North America. Recent solo projects include Eros at St. Pulp Studio, New York, NY (2024), and Airdrop at A.P.E. Gallery, Northampton, MA (2021). Her publications are held in collections such as the Brooklyn Museum Zine Library. Jil was a 2024 resident at Monson Arts in Monson, ME, and a 2022 fellow at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico in Taos, NM. She has been included in the White Columns Curated Artist Registry since 2022. Crary-Ross currently works across freelance roles in book arts, ceramics, and scenic fabrication, while maintaining her studio practice and accepting painting commissions.
