Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

Red Song

Video collaboration by Margie Smeller & Rae Red for "NOW SEE HEAR" (July 2020). The piece later won a juror’s prize in “The Color Show: RED” at Able Arts Work in Southern California in 2022. "Now See Hear" was a collection of the multi-sensory ways Make Studio artists and local Sondheim applicants have been interacting with each other and making art. Drawings, songs, collages and videos will bring you into the play and exploration between five pairs of local women artists: Erika Clark | Sara Dittrich Rae Red | Margie Smeller Liora Ostroff | Katelynn Herty Gemma Frost | Sarah Clough Dasha Kalumuck | Jenn McBrien In the year of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage 19th amendment, we celebrate our increased voting power, while knowing that there are still ways in which some votes and voices are left out, including people with disabilities. We want to use art to link voters with resources on how to register, connect with accessible voting resources (like large-print ballots or voting online) and information about candidates. During National Disability Voter Registration Week, July 13-17th, be sure to check out concurrent events at Disability Rights Maryland. “Now See Hear” wants to grab the audience by the lapels and make sure they pay due attention to the creative power of women.
