Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

Dress for Today no.9 - The Lazy One

2023
Researchers find that some ants are destined to be idle/inactive, or lazy, within their colony. However, they seem to have purposes - one of them is to replace active workers who can no longer work. In this video piece, aricoco disguises herself as one of the lazy kind, exploring the imaginary colony of ant/human hybrids.

Dress for Today no.8 - Powerless Shield

2022
In order to create her own temporary shelter, aricoco makes and uses robes as a protective layer, drawing references from the invertebrates with exoskeleton. aricoco’s performative shield reveals her struggle and desperate hope to get through today, and possibly, tomorrow.

Virtual Runway-performance show, featuring participants’ Tango-inspired performances that were recorded and collected via zoom meetings. The video introduces a series of uniforms created by myself, that are tailored to fit the needs and roles of insect-human hybrid colony members whose specialized tasks are divided according to Division of Labor.
