Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. Response-ability: Generation M
2021HD video, stereo sound, 13:26 min. Editing Emma Moriconi, text Dimitris Papadopoulos, music Palyrria, Smagghe & Cross, Metamatics. The video weaves together an essay by researcher Dimitris Papadopoulos and the visual fusion of the digital and the material. ‘Generation M’ is hypothesized as the first generation of the 21st century, defined by craftsmanship, making, matter and the fusion of the digital and the material. Generation M seeks new collaborations between beings and nature. It contributes to the emergence of new mixtures of social, biotic, and inorganic material that nurture liveable worlds. Visualization is heightened through filtered light and color-stained specimen slides, highlighting the human and non-hum mixtures, their complexity and epistemic agency, from intestines to blood cells and honey bee winged bodies. These bodies are not considered as singular identities but as a result of many respons-able processes and material formations.
