Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My work is about making people aware of the architectural and structural environment of our everyday surroundings through a process of reconstruction. I strive  to make space visible by using different types of materials. These are roots that spring from my architectural background. However, I want to use tangible things to respond to an imaginary white-cubed space. By bringing together (found) materials, detached from their previous use and layer and conjoin them, forming a new meaning. These works are testament of the appreciation of the collage of materials. Applying a building-from-parts methodology, I create mixed-media works using wood, paint and a photography medium, which could result in either a flat or three-dimensional piece.
