Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Dutch artist Leopold van de Ven mixes his own materials from scratch. This might be carved hardwood with paint, or a collage consisting of layers. Intuition leads him to create works from a mix of thoughts and photo memories. Pieces of wood, painted and sculpted surfaces, papier-mâché and recycled materials result in two- or three-dimensional works of art. He is inspired by nature and the French landscape where he regularly works, as well as New York City, which led to his attending Triangle's artist-in-residency program in Brooklyn. Van de Ven's sculptures reveal a relationship with his architectural background and the concept of spatiality which he expresses in an abstract way. Van de Ven lives and works in the Netherlands and France
