Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

I consider abstract painting to be a vehicle for registering an artist’s thought process. My work maps an encounter with the contemporary landscape and the complex interplay of the personal, cultural, and aesthetic within everyday human experience. Drawing from a myriad references, such as art history, found images, and the places I encounter in my daily life, I approach my subjects’ liminality with a vocabulary of reductive marks and color relationships.  Fragmented patterns and motifs emerge, collapse, and re-emerge.  I am working towards the moment when the material and the mark resonate and feel something close to an experience of our current shared reality.
