Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

As a commentary on the patterns of human conduct, my work stems from observing and engaging with what exists. Whether it’s an object, an idea, a newspaper article, or a stanza written two thousand years ago, I interpret and counter these influences through sculpture and installation, though not exclusively. My research rummages into societal structures, using collective analysis to explore complex systems such as construction/destruction (cyclical patterns), language and communication, heritage, faith, morality, hierarchy, and beauty.

In aesthetic terms, I rely heavily on materiality. Industrial materials and trades often associated with masculinity are central to my process. I work with found objects, replicating and iterating them to create assemblages and installations that I conceive as systems. Through these structures and their components, I reflect on the relationships between human experience and societal norms.
