Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Jimena Velarde-Alvarez (b. 2001, Lima, Peru) is an artist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. She received a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Rooted in quiet inquiry, her work reflects on the tension between permanence and impermanence. She moves through themes of memory, time, connection, and inner landscape, tracing the echoes of lived experience. Through layered surfaces and shifting forms, her work evokes a deep awareness of the self and the transient nature of reality, inviting the viewer into a state of reflection—attuned to the invisible currents that move beneath the surface of consciousness and memory.
