Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My practice approaches photography as a space where fragmented truths, shared memory, and the ethics of seeing converge. As a photographic essayist, I utilize the medium to explore the instability of personal and inherited traumas, and the ways images both clarify and complicate our understanding of the self. Drawing from personal archives, documentary approaches, and my own emotional cadence, I treat the photograph as both document and metaphor.

Images, texts, and material interventions are in constant conversation in my work, each one activating or unsettling the others. I often question the necessity of a camera to tell a story that others have lived. Using text as an abstracted voice to communicate beyond my photographs has allowed truth to be both lost and almost forgotten. These strategies have evolved into forms of inquiry, as the work seeks validation not through factual accuracy, but through poetic reasoning.
