Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Statement

For me, art is a practice of broken spells, riddles whose answers are open, and I am attracted to play with riddles.
I am interested in bodies that are affected and affecting their surroundings, and what shares with us the experience of a world that exists in parallel to "the human" without being reduced to it.
The bones of the animals I have eaten continue to weep, manifesting that residual life that inhabits them, and so I have begun to reanimate them, I have given them movement, not wanting to create a new being, but as a promise of that which, dispersed and abandoned of itself, continues to pulsate. Every animistic practice uses the body as the engine of the spirit. I don't know what I'm doing, but I want to believe that I am giving space to the broken spells to cast light on other ways of translating our convulsing reality.
