Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
My work exists somewhere between the immediate and the meditative. I work intuitively, relying on intution, and the unfolding narratives of my life as a parent as well as shows, books and podcasts I stream during the time frame of each piece. This creates a meeting place for the tactile and the temporal that forges its own rhythmic and visual storytelling. I work on my old bed and table linens, reducing six strand embroidery floss to one or two strands so I can have more variety in size and density. For denser textures, I will stitch over and over on the same spot. The juxtaposition between these dense, labored areas and the delicacy of the single strand stitches and unstitched areas create some of the dynamism in the work. I am in awe of the strength of the fabric and its ability to withstand constant jabbing. There is unpredictability and the recording of time in my stitches. This is how I create a vocabulary of metaphors: intimacy, repair, labor, fragility, resilience, home, time and love. My pieces are aesthetic and intimate and are meant to be viewed up close.
