Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
My work focuses on the margins of cities, particularly abandoned and demolished buildings, as well as areas undergoing development and transition. I often paint construction sites and ruins, drawn to the unfinished structures due to a longing for completeness and stability. Discarded objects and tools, such as crates, piles of lumber, and air ducts, take center stage in my paintings. The scarcity of people, plants, and animals enhances the sense of isolation and stillness. I am captivated by the chaotic moment before materials and objects are transformed into a clean, finished form—this moment is filled with potential and hope.
I use photographs taken on-site during my walks as references and sketches. My paintings often combine elements from multiple photographs, preserving the freshness of a plein air study, even though they are created in the studio. In these paintings, the different formal elements take precedence over mere representation. I explore ideas like the frame within a frame and the illusion of light and space. It is essential for me to keep the painting process visible in the finished work. You can see brush strokes, knife gestures, and variations in treatment—some areas are light and open, while others are more tightly rendered. This invites viewers not only into the painted space but also into my artistic practice.
