Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Samuelle Grande’s paintings explore the interplay of memory and imagination. Her
paintings reflect extraordinary experiences that arise from everyday life. Through colour, form and texture, her paintings incorporate figuration with abstraction to create open-ended narratives. Playful and enigmatic, these scenarios draw on an array of found materials and personal experiences. The artist approaches painting as a playful, bodily and intuitive endeavor. Grande is particularly sensitive to color relationships and materiality. Each work offers a glimpse into the artist’s personal cosmology.
