Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Tristan Ryer-Parke is an artist and fabricator based in Brooklyn NY. He focuses on unconventional digital fabrication processes which result in painted objects. He provides Design, Modeling, Software Development and Fabrication services for artists and designers.

His sculpture and painting works consist of several bespoke machines which exist as sculptures and choreographed performance. These machines apply paint to canvas, constraining variables such as pressure and stroke path. Ryer-Parke uses this repetitive application process to study the system and material, while the product exists as an abstraction of the original intent. His most recent work incorporates discarded and recycled automation components which elevate the painting process to a industrial standard.

He also dearly enjoys creating and fixing the machines which execute these material experiments.
