Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Through multiple mediums - painting, collage, and sculpture - I've always made work based around a rotating cast of self-constructed archetypes. Canids, clowns, crones, diviners, drifters; they function as symbolic representations of childhood impressions. The characters are both real and imagined; encountered in books, oracular dreams, and fragments of memory. Themes reveal personal history: childhood fantasies, forbidden sexuality, the verdant landscape of a heightened inner world. I am driven by a need to create personal mythology.
Often I make paintings of my sculptures, or recreate my drawings using porcelain as canvas. I utilize natural elements like sea glass and stone in my ceramics - when melted in the kiln, an element of unpredictability is added which I find crucial for my process. My figures dance and droop (with glee) along the sharpest edge of chaos and order. They are my performance troupe; the play might change but the characters are the same, hidden under masks or in cloaks of pitch black. I am interested in the juxtaposition of delicate and grotesque. A wariness paired with conflicting desire - how indeed, a smile can bite. To me, this is what my work is about. Communication of the human experience in all its ugliness, innocence, beauty, and brutality.
