Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Sonia Kahn is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily at the intersection of moving image and print, exploring analog processes within the technical (re)production of visual materials. Her work contends with the urban environment, considering the city through scraps of collective dreams, desires and consumption in its printed detritus. Reimagining and repurposing materials in conversation with forgone technologies, she interrogates the interrelationship between movement, time and materiality. As such, the prints become films and the films become prints once again, a feedback loop of disintegrating, recycled signals. Ultimately, her practice investigates the morphology and lifespan of an image through such methodologies of degradation, circulation and reproduction.
Several of her films are distributed via the non-profit The Film-Maker’s Cooperative and may be rented or bought using this link.
