Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Being a brown Mexican American woman from the Midwest is the formative inspiration for my recent artwork. My paintings bring voice to stories that people of color, multicultural individuals, immigrants, and women want to share about themselves through visually poetic constructed realities. Themes of isolation, marginalization, belonging, joy, and hope emerge in the storytelling. My narratives are fictive futures, potential alternate realities, speculative nonfiction, or distorted depictions of past events. What might be interpreted as nostalgia is often subverted by psychological tension built on questions of race, gender, and identity. My paintings prioritize authentic experiences that represent and value marginalized lives, especially Black and Brown ones.
