Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Astrid Rausch's abstract paintings develop into soft landscapes with a free painterly execution. Suddenly, thinly glazed areas of color that run across the surface of the picture become water or sky or, in very fine formulations, vegetation. Characterized by an interest in the processual, the artist allows an apparent chaos of running or slowly drying paint. In her deliberate play with the alternation of impasto and thin paint application, the viewer can experience the color not only with the eyes, but sometimes almost haptically. Figures and creatures appear to characterize the abstract pictorial space and project it into a familiar environment.
