Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I am a self-taught artist with an insatiable passion for continuous learning and exploration. My artistic journey began with a love for doodling and drawing, captivated by figurines and toys from a young age. This natural inclination led me to experiment with graffiti-style art, filling notebooks with my creations. In school, a teacher recognized my talent and submitted my artwork to a local exhibition without my knowledge, where I won third place. Despite this early success, I never pursued my artwork further, and this natural love for art lay dormant within me.
For years, I had no idea that I could truly be an artist. My fascination with art persisted, however, through my love for collecting art pieces that spoke to me on a profound level. Each piece I collected fueled my subconscious desire to create, and eventually, I began to explore different mediums such as acrylics, sewing machine stitching, and recycled paint chips.
My artwork is a reflection of my subconscious mind, influenced by my upbringing, the Black experience, and my perception of how the world sees me. I delve into self-portraits, exploring complexities, identities, and the layers of my personality. Travel, music, art, food, the diaspora, and pop culture stories surrounding race also shape my artistic expression.
I have been fortunate to connect with private art collectors who have shown appreciation for my work, both through studio visits and online platforms like Instagram. My motivation as an artist is to tell stories. I firmly believe that the world doesn't need more clothes, art, or things; it needs more ideas. Through various mediums, art has become my new language of expression, offering a direct glimpse into how my mind works and how I perceive the world as a creative individual.
