Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I’m interested in painting as a way to work towards an unexpected image, one that couldn't have existed in my mind before the time of the painting took place. My work is made through a process of layering, with objects, shapes or figures functioning as containers or seams to delineate painted effects. My process often starts with a formal idea that has emotional resonance or mirrors a surface from my present, metabolizing input of the visual environment and subjects of my attention. I often use transIucency to emulate states of obscured vision. I consider painting to be a method of visual communication similar to eye contact. Communication outside of language may not be entirely possible, but I think of painting as creating a structure where fragments of non-verbal communication may occur.
