Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
My work documents everyday life as experienced by ordinary people. I find beauty in the Buddhist idea that nothing is permanent or perfect, not even the world we live in today.
Before creating, I immerse myself in each location, observing, gathering materials, and listening to stories. This process helps me understand the relationship between people and their environments.
I layer drawing, painting, and found objects to create my work. At times, I stitch pieces together, much like how worn clothes were once mended for warmth and strength. Through stitching, I honor broken materials and strengthen the sense of community within the work.
After 2020, the city’s familiar tones seemed to fade. Simple lines with a color pencil and ink trace what remains after brightness has drained away. In earlier works, color and paint carried imagined spirits that sometimes appeared, but now the spirits are gone, and what’s left is the city itself. Drawing became a way to listen to what is alive beneath the surface.
Clouds often appear as symbols of time’s passage. In comics, panels show changes in time and scene, while in older paintings, clouds were used similarly. Layering images in my work also reflects the flow of time.
Ultimately, my work celebrates imperfection and impermanence, embracing change as a condition of life. I hope to encourage viewers to slow down, notice what is fleeting, and find beauty in the present moment.
