Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

To apply to the Registry, click here. Join our mailing list here to receive our open call announcement and other programming updates. For any further questions about the Registry, please contact us at registry@whitecolumns.org.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Each piece starts with a scrap of paper—a grocery list, a note from a phone call, a part of an envelope—whose functional marks have lost their initial purpose. Then come new marks. Drawn, painted, torn, pulled apart, reassembled. My work has always been concerned with decay, fragility and resilience. The collage process itself enacts the cycles of destruction and reconstitution that surround us.

Each piece starts with a hashtagged title. Clicking on the hashtag of the posted image situates it in another place and in that other place there is always a chance for some sort of reorganization of the original intent.
