Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

To apply to the Registry, click here. Join our mailing list here to receive our open call announcement and other programming updates. For any further questions about the Registry, please contact us at registry@whitecolumns.org.

STATEMENT OF WORK

"Roundels" is a series of sculptures made using donated analogue photographs and staples. Each snapshot is cut into small circles, leaving only glimpses of the original image. Staples are then used to create quick, strong connections between the photos; a simple hinge that allows lightweight forms to grow and flex. The resulting sculptures create pointillistic 2D and 3D constellations that occupy walls, ceilings and shelves—creating a cluster of glossy micro-memories that can be read as anachronistic photo albums or subtle rhythmic scores. One could think of each completed piece as a low tech AI exercise, taking vast bits of visual information and fitting them together in an intuitive way, answering a cryptic query.
