Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
The work uses the language of collage, synthesizing multiple source images into a flattened space, to hold tensions between the legible and illegible. The process involved is like lightsheeting: going outside at night, and using a lighted surface to attract and observe moths and other nocturnal flying insects as they settle and swarm.
Through the confusion of forms, like the drawn versus layered, or gesture versus chance event, the work reflects and produces an experience of analytic, but playful looking. Subtractive forms– masking out, negating images– bring everything together and produce a structured interaction with the unknown.
