Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Philosophy and Purpose

I am deeply grateful for the artistic talents I've been given, and I believe it's essential to honor this gift by using it to its fullest potential—sharing beauty and my passions with the universe. Throughout my 44-year career, I've employed numerous creative strategies, but I've discovered that letting go of theories and concepts in favor of keeping my work clear and direct comes most naturally to me. My intent is to instill my joy of living in everything I do, using my talent to send positive energy into the world.

Practice and Medium

I began making oil paintings in 2006 during a three-month residency in Paris, and I quickly discovered it was an ideal medium for me, I love the way it faithfully records, my every gesture… Within a year I had my first solo painting exhibition, and since then, I've been invited to show my work in galleries and museums around the world.

I've always created artworks that serve as records of ephemeral experiences, and what excites  me about oil is its ability to capture the gestures my hands make—each painting becomes a record of its making, like a living, breathing organism that I send out into the world. The medium allows me to translate fleeting moments of joy and beauty into artworks that can touch others long after the paint has dried.

Community and Teaching

One of my greatest pleasures is being invited to art schools such as Yale, SVA, and NYU, where I can connect directly with aspiring artists. I encourage them to embrace their authentic selves and help them navigate a path to get their work out into the world. It's deeply gratifying to share the same enthusiasm and encouragement that was given to me in my early days

The advent of social media, particularly Instagram, has opened new avenues for connection. I now engage directly with thousands of fans, including collectors and emerging artists. I cherish these conversations, learning what resonates with them in my work. I've been told countless times how happy my paintings make people feel, which reinforces my belief in art's transformative power.

Impact and Vision

I truly believe that as artists, we have the ability to bring beauty into people's lives, inspire them to aim higher, and encourage them to view each day as a joyous adventure. This is my fundamental goal. The constant feedback I receive—through messages and in-person encounters—confirms that my artwork genuinely touches people. Knowing that I can be a positive voice in the world while creating art that brings joy to viewers is what drives my continued practice.

Art has the power to transform ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences, and I am honored to contribute to that magical process through my work
