Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Carly Mandel's sculptures are an autobiographical exploration of the American consumerist landscape. Using a mix of abstracted real-world objects and imagined prototypes, she crafts her pieces from clay, glass, metal, and fabric, juxtaposing them with hyper-commercial machine-rendered elements. This interplay of materials represents the body under capitalism. Through her art, Mandel delves into themes of family, healthcare, wellness objects, and public spaces, seeking a deeper understanding of her world.
