Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I am an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker, utilizing autobiographical narratives as source material to create contemporary fictions. Through layered temporalities and representations of the self within archives, objects, and performances, my work constructs a personal aesthetic of recuperation, salvage, and recreation. Balanced between tragedy and pleasure, I employ humor and my alter-ego, Griselda, to navigate the grief and absurdity inherent in recreating transhistorical subjects. I attempt to resurrect what the (sub)conscious has murdered: an absence or loss, even of a memory itself. While rummaging through my family’s Salvadoran video and photographic archive I ask, what cannot stay dead? My work seeks to negotiate an agreement with the present moment rather than with a distant future, exploring how close one can get to recreating reality before losing touch with it.
