Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

The disparate images in my work convene for a while to exchange stories, responding to one another like fragments of an unwieldy poem. The subjects allude to histories or shared memories, recognizable but not quite placed. I think about the distance that is conditional to desire and its irresolvable nature. The artwork sits in a similarly unresolved state: it is at times generous, at times selfish, here induglent, there demanding, producing a distance between work and viewer that compels us to consider how we respond to the visual world.

Erica Vincenzi (b. 1995) is from and works in Los Angeles.
