Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My work explores and interrogates complex western sociopolitical identities. I’m interested in critically engaging with individuals’ convictions, and the problematic mythologizing of histories and beliefs.

Certainty, even in subcultural or remote contexts, leads to exercises in perceived authority and exploitation of myth. Wannabe cowboys, black metal neo-pagans, Deus Vult internet trolls: these people are posing, sure, but they’re convinced of their absurd supremacy, and they all liked First Blood Part 2.

My practice is focused on researching and recontextualizing these attempts at gaining and maintaining power, from actual political rule to overly-online edgelord behavior. The work spans a variety of media and subjects, while engaging and critiquing performative identities, constructed narratives, and materialist rituals.
