Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Something weightless is easily embedded into our surroundings. My work depicts subtle and shy emotions. A theme that tends to arise in my work is the impact of remaining in a locale, and how familiarity imbricates itself into vision: the face of a vent or the tilt of a sidewalk possess the recognizability of a face. It's not a dark truth, but a placid condition, however eerie. I use items and surfaces that are commonly found in interiors and have a generic guiltless look. These are combined with scans or drawings into collages, looping gifs, or something else. My projects are planned with site and the season as factors.
