The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

I’m driven by uncovering a process of preservation, strength, and light from devastation and darkness which allows me to to heighten the bonds that unite me to the universal nature. From past to present, my work attempts to speak to this cosmology and anthropology. The way we have existed and attempted to record for centuries between the stars and the earth with the “sources” that keep us interconnected.

Because of my ongoing changing physical nature, due to a progressive degenerative disorder, I investigate my shifting identity through a process of pushing the limitations and transformations of discarded or broken familiar fragments that serve as a metaphors for my body navigating the landscape. My method inspired first by the finding becomes a slow act of restoration, through actions of labor and care in a pathway of consciousness leading through the material to the spiritual. I’m drawn to rummaging salvage yards in my surroundings which speak to my familiar upbringing in a DIY car culture eliminating waste, and as a sense of identity, stability and self-worth. From shattered windshield glass, to auto-parts and headlights which hold marks of collective time, impact, and illusions of safety, I work with spatial, transparent surfaces with which to engage one's perception as a lens, below the surface where resonance recognizes consciousness with the physical and emotional. I re-build these findings in layers of resin to create light and space as a place of reflection to magnify a new formulated sense of perception and depth.

These works serve as artifacts from the future or past that defy an end of life with unending luminosity to establish new resilience and belonging. I aim to expose new found discoveries of connection to a journey in conscious living which allows us to value and elevate all possibilities.
