Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My artwork explores themes of healing and regeneration at the intersection of personal mythology, fantasy, and nature. Drawing on archetypal symbols for reference, I envision narratives of renewal and remediation that recognize the sentient qualities of all life forms. A recurring motif in my paintings is the image of the Tree of Life—a symbol that appears as a universal life force across many cultures since ancient times. I imagine Medicine Trees to represent its healing aspect—the physical manifestation of a life of balance, connectivity, and reciprocity. I create my images intuitively, layering forms, colors, and textures that evolve into elaborately-patterned pictures. Through this process, my work considers the transformative capacity of mark making.
