Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
My work draws from my experience with computers, which involved the transition from punch cards to the evolution of an extremely accessible OS. Curiosity about the impact of digital imagery on human perception was the starting point. As tech evolved to a seamless experience, there developed a reliance on our devices along with an acceptance of the many changes in our daily activities. There was an intrigue to the changes in social behaviors and perceptual comprehension as humans continue to adapt to the digital evolution.
Coders attempt to mimic brain capability to interpret light, and this activity is reflected in these paintings by combining traditional methods of art production with computer software. The work plays with visual and mental perceptions. Source material is derived from smartphone pics and scanned photographs dating from the middle of the 20th century. Images are printed and transferred, with the printer acting as an extension of the painter’s brush. The nature of ink creates an unstable push and pull situation. Within the production of the painting, there is possibility of an alteration over time, although every effort is made to control the forces. The struggle is an integral part of the process.
