Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Through the reconfiguration of everyday domestic materials such as dishtowels, fabric, and utensils, I think of the complexities of home: a space of comfort, a container of memory, and an entrapping myth.
A specific crochet stitch, gestures from family photographs, the sound of a conversation from home movies, or a repeating floral motif on the fabric my grandmother sewed into curtains, all serve as raw materials in my practice.
Searching my family archives and personal memory, I draw connections between generational inheritances, craft, storytelling, and ritual. Navigating the vacancies and overlaps in my own Mexican and Irish-American family histories has been a conduit to exorcising loss, the interconnectivity of time, and how seemingly disparate memories or collective occurrences are interwoven.
It is imperative that multiple timelines exist in these works through employing found objects of varying age; pointing to the ever-present past, and its way of inhabiting — and haunting — the future.
