Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Lately, shape has been a primary concern in my work. These shapes often begin as the memory of some real world object but I try to take the edges of the shape in an opposite direction before the representation is complete. The shapes in my drawing and painting build up a concept I call "cosmic pleasure," a variation on the "cosmic horror" genre of sci-fi. The sci-fi genre is typified by a menacing or destructive entity of such sublime power that it functions without awareness or concern of its relatively inconsequential human victims. These shapes represent a tangible sublime pleasure that moves through the universe without regard to individaul motives. This power, destructive or creative, is incomprehensible to reasoning. Abstract shape is the best way to represent this cosmic pleasure since it has the power to direct viewers to their own desires, unconscious or concious. This concept is an attempt to understand the creative and destructive powers of queer desire. This desire can be a source of great joy and pleasure, and great suffering at the hands of others with pleasures of their own, such as the pleasure derived from the destruction of queer bodies.
