Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I have been a feminist artist for over 20 years, exploring social, political and environmental issues as they relate to women. Previous to that I was the co-founder of the Westbeth Playwrights Feminist Collective, a pioneer of women-run theater whose archives of plays and photographs are now in the collection of the New York Historical Society.
The body as both object and subject is central to the imagery of my paintings, printmaking and sculpture. In my feminist art practice, the relationship between actual experience and narrative is complex and always in flux.
Underpinning it all is Borneo and Trinidad - the islands which gave my family its history of hunting and farming, skin color and social hierarchy, colonialism and the lure of missionary religion against the natural world. These narratives became part of my interior compass to navigate not only difficult times, but also to establish an active, perceptual response that was both trickster and rebel.
As a former landcape architect, my works explore women’s place in landscape as one of spontaneity , fertility and danger.
