Artist Registry

The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK

My creative process centers on painting, cutting, and assembling paper. My methods are low-tech, relying on accessible materials like paper, glue, and metal brads, which serve both decorative and functional purposes. Paper is economical, portable, and quiet. With simple tools such as hole punches, scissors, and fasteners, I construct by weaving and grid-making. By transforming paper into intricate visual narratives, I explore themes of consumerism and the complexities of contemporary life seemingly hidden beneath playful surfaces.
I create smaller works using paperboard constructions, often designed to hang on the wall. In these pieces, I focus on imagery rooted in the fundamentals of design-exploring shapes, color, and ornamentation. This approach allows me to distill my ideas into compact forms while emphasizing the interplay between structure and visual elements.
I also make larger three-dimensional installations featuring intricate paper constructions suspended from above and interconnected by grids, bridges, and scaffolding. By inviting viewers to navigate around, inside, and through the installation, I aim to blur the boundaries between two-dimensional art and three-dimensional space, offering a sensory experience that transforms their perception of structure and form.
