Artist Registry
The White Columns Curated Artist Registry is an online platform for emerging and under-recognized artists to share images and information about their respective practices. The Registry seeks to create a context for artists who have yet to benefit from wider critical, curatorial or commercial support. To be eligible, artists cannot be affiliated with a commercial gallery in New York City.

STATEMENT OF WORK
I make paintings both outside in the landscape and back in the studio where I can explore a fluid interchange between naturalistic and imagined spaces and views.
My practice is rooted in long, observational relationships with place, often forged through repeated return, quiet attention, and bodily immersion in landscape. This back and forth is really an established way of working and while my subject is nature or landscape it is underpinned by the kind of interrogation and critical distance found in the city studio.
I enjoy the slippage between forms woman, vegetables and trees as engendered and performative. A project drawing the full moon by moonlight brings a thearitical premis to the work.
I usually make paintings on paper, sometimes very light weight or newsprint. These paintings have the transient quality of a bilboard and their own particular physical charge .
Sketch books are a big part of my life,I draw every day and use a fast stream of consciousness line. In the paintings colour communicates atmosphere and energy. I hope to reveal by a fluid drawing line that the trees and land scapes in the work have a personality and agency both powerful and wise.
